How to Choose LED Lighting

With the advent of LED lighting, it is likely that almost all other forms of lighting will soon become obsolete. This is because of the wide range of uses LED lighting offers on account of its brightness, flexibility in colour, and versatility. In addition to this, it has several other advantages over conventional forms of lighting such as higher efficiency, longer lifespan, lower maintenance costs and absence of emissions.

Understanding LED Lighting

LED lighting comes in various colours which are expressed in terms of temperature. Low brightness or yellow LED lights have a lower colour temperature, usually between 2500 and 3350 Kelvin, whereas high-brightness or white LED lights have a colour temperature of 4000 to 5500 Kelvin. Knowing and understanding this aspect is a good guide while picking the right LED lights for your space.

Low brightness LED lights are ideal for homes because of their low heat emission levels. In addition to this, these yellow lights can enhance home décor as they create a pleasant ambience, and can be used to make areas appear more cozy and homely. Warm coloured LED lights are also great lighting options for highlighting art such as paintings, sculptures, motifs and murals.

Bright LED lights are ideal for using in places where higher visibility is necessary. For this reason, such lights are often installed in kitchens and washrooms. The versatility of these LED lights is that they can be used in combination with warm LED lights in bedrooms to give settings an inviting appeal, while also ensuring adequate lighting.

LED Strips and their Growing Popularity

Another option in LED lighting is LED strips, which can be used in commercial and personal spaces. As the name suggests, these are strips which are fitted with LED lights and are ideal for cove lighting in bedrooms and living rooms.

The use of LED lights is highly recommended in homes because they are easy to install, have a very high efficiency (80-90%), have zero heat and UV emission, have amazing design flexibility, have incredibly long lifespans (up to 25 years) and are extremely durable. It is safe to say that all these factors put together put LED lights way above conventional methods of lighting.
