The Woman, though a word, is a complete sentence in itself. She is the embodiment of beauty, wisdom and affection. In fact, Diane Mariechild has rightly quoted, “A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” Indeed, she is!
International Women’s Day, which falls on every March 8, celebrates the power of women, their rights and role in our lives and society. The earliest celebration of women’s day dates back to 1909, in New York. With its virtuous intentions, the concept of celebrating the women reached the world and now, most of the countries commemorate the women’s day. However, if we turn the pages of history, the women had been the subjugated sex in this male-dominated world. Often referred as the second sex or the weaker sex, the women were largely perceived as child-bearers and nurturers by the world. After rigorous attempts of fighting for their rights and demanding equality of gender in all the walks of life, their voice got heard.
People started acknowledging the power of women, their existence and their importance. And on the whole, the gender – women – has evolved so much over the years. They have proved, time and again, that they are the reservoir of talent and skills. Given the chance and their due rights, they have the power to excel in academics, climb the mountains, dive into oceans, create business empires, lead the nations, explore the Space, and what not.
Educating Women is Educating Generation
We have often heard, “If you educate a man, you’re educating an individual. But if you educate a woman, you’re educating a generation.” Believing in the fact that Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world, at Havells, we believe in educating the today’s girls and empowering the future women to change the society for better. With the commitment to build a healthy, strong and empowered nation, Havells is sponsoring the education and educational aids in hundreds of govt. schools in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Besides supporting the academic education, we are also dedicated to enlighten the students regarding sanitation and the importance of imbibing these hygiene habits in their routine life. They are also encouraged to spread the message of cleanliness and adopting hygiene practices in their homes and social groups. Following the lines of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan“, Havells has come forward to build 850 bio-toilets in 102 schools across the Alwar district to put an end to the problem of open defecation. Over and above, the Havells group is providing healthy and nutritious mid-day meal to 60,000 students in hundreds in govt. schools. To ensure that the children are getting nutritious meals, we have our own high-tech kitchen with automated systems where quality food is made using fresh ingredients, and own fleet of vehicles that delivers the food in schools on time.
